Biography

Mary Cook was born November 15, 1745 at Middletown, Hartford, Connecticut Colony the daughter of Jacob Cook and his wife Marcy.^[1][2][3]

On March 2, 1763 she married Elijah Ranney at Granville, Province of Massachusetts Bay.^[3]

1. Mary born August 1, 1763. She married Jonathan Norton.
2. Sybil born July 29, 1765. She married ______Crane.
3. Jeremiah was born May 5, 1769.
4. Elijah birth unknown, moved to Waterville, New York. where he was a merchant for many years.
5. Ebenezer was born May 25, 1776.
6. Rufus was born in 1780
7. Roxana birth unknown. In 1791 she married John Lloyd.
8. Eunice birth unknown. married Darius Stephens.

Elijah must have died prior to October 7, 1789 since it was on this date that his estate was distributed by the probate court.^[3]

Mary married (2nd) Noah Warren in Blandford, Hampden, Massachusetts on March 11, 1792.^[4]

As some point in time she began living with her son Deacon Jeremiah Ranney.^[3]

Her tombstone is at Waterville New York.^[2]It says, "Mary, wife of Elijah Ranney died April 1, 1832, aged 88 years."^[3]

Research Note

Hopkins Mayflower Connection: While four of Josiah and Mary Cooke's children (of 9) are listed in the Hopkins Mayflower Families silver book, their lines are not continued on, indicating that their descendants are not currently approved for membership. Additional proof will be needed to prove their parents.^[5] The father/son relationship between Josiah Cooke and Jocob Cook is considered possible. See Wikitreeg2g here: [1]^[6]
