She married Jesse Henry Thomas O'Brien on 26 Jul 1938 in Queensland, Australia. [2] Jesse died early in a work accident, leaving baby Cliff O'Brien. Violet and Cliff lived at Kalapa with her mother Amy Cook. [3]

Violet Lily Cook O'Brien died on 20 Sep 1998 in Rockhampton, Queensland and was buried in the Rockhampton Memorial Gardens, Rockhampton, Queensland. [4]
