Birth John was baptized in Limber Magna. Lincolnshire, England on 15 June 1823[1]

Marriage to Martha Sanderson on 14 May 1844 in Cabourne, Lincolnshire, England [2]. Martha was a servant at the time, but I can't read John's occupation .

In 1851 he appears in the census as an agricultural labourer with his wife Martha, daughter Betsey, 5, and son Alfred, 1. in Bradley, Caistor, Lincolnshire, England[3]
