Sarah Cook
Sarah was born c. 1647 at Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island, probably the eldest child of Thomas Cook (son of Thomas b 1600) and Thomasine Unknown.[1] Some authors, especially Austin, have called her the daughter of Thomas (b 1600) who was actually her grandfather.[1] Sarah was the elder sister of Phebe Cook, born c. 1664, probably the next to youngest.[1]
Sarah was named in her grandfather's 1673 will, along with her three children: Penelope, Peter, and Sarah.[1] Her relationship to her grandfather, Thomas was not mentioned in the will, however 18 June 1680 her husband, Peter Parker, acknowledged receipt of 20s, referring to him as grandfather.
Sarah married c, 1663 at Portsmouth, Newport County, Rhode Island, to Peter Parker, son of George and Frances Parker of Portsmouth.[1]
Children:[1]
In June 1680, Peter signed a receipt for the legacies of his wife and "three oldest children," implying there were additional children born after 1673.[1]
Sarah and Peter were of Shrewsbury, New Jersey by 1667 when Peter was chosen constable there.[1]
On 20 August 1680, a letter to Gov. Andros mentioned Peter's poor health.[1] He must have recovered, because records show that Peter returned to Rhode Island and was living at Jamestown when on 8 December 1694, he conveyed property to Caleb Allen. The deed was signed by Oliver Allen
Sarah died before 8 December 1694, as she did not cosign the deed of that date with her husband. Jane Fletcher Fiske suggested that she may have died in 1680, from the same illness that affected her husband.[1]
