Biography

Jacob Cooke was born 16 Jun 1691 at Kingston, Plymouth, Massachusetts.[1][2] He was the son of Jacob Cooke and Lydia Miller.

Jacob married first, Phebe Hall, daughter of Elisha Hall and Lydia, on 3 Apr 1716 in Yarmouth, Massachusetts. Phebe was born 3 Mar 1689 in Yarmouth. She died 15 Jul 1728 in Kingston, Massachusetts, with a stillborn child.[4][5][6] Jacob and Phebe lived on land given to him by his father at the junction of Indian Pond and Dukes Hole Roads. Phebe was buried in the Cooke section of the Kingston cemetery.[6]

There was also living near them a Joseph Cook, who died March 27, 1782, and left in his will 50 Franks to the Presbyterian Church of Ten-Mile (Mendham, New Jersey).[10]

Jacob married his third wife, Rebakah Axtell, 11 Nov 1736 at Berkley, Massachusetts.[4]

"Cooke, Jacob and Rebakah Axtell of Barkely, int. Oct. 16 1736."[7]

Children of Jacob Cooke and Rebakah Axtell

Jacob and Rebakah had at least two sons:[4]

  1. John

Asa, Jacob, Stephen, Daniel, and possibly Phebe and John went with them.[6] At least three of Asa's children were born in Mendham after 1750.
