Robert Cook was apprenticed to William Wright, Baker of Dunedin and was in his employ in 1897. He eventually set up in business as a Pastry Cook and Confectioner with J O Thompson under the name 'Cook & Thompson'. Their partnership was dissolved in 1906. 1
He supported his mother Mary Ann until he took out a prohibition order against her in 1893. [1]
Robert married in 1894 to Christina, daughter of Charles Fitzroy MacLean and Margaret Allan Mearns of Dunedin at Dunedin's Knox Church. They had 4 children born during their marriage but 2 were to die in their infancy.
In the early 1900's Robert and the family moved north to Parnell, Auckland where he continued working in the bakery trade.
Robert died at Auckland age 87. Ashes burial at Waikumete Cemetery.
