He passed away on 21 January 1916[3][4] as a result of injures when he was stuck by a motor vehicle at the corner of Flinders and Pultney Streets in Adelaide on January 15th[5]. He was 61 years old. He is buried in the West Terrace Cemetery in Adelaide.

FATAL INJURIES.
Frederick Cooke (61), an ironworker, employed by A. M. Simpson & Sons, and who resided at Elder street, Adelaide, succumbed at the Adelaide Hospital on Friday afternoon to the injuries he sustained in a motor accident in Pulteney street on Saturday last, Cooke's sufferings consisted of laceration of the lungs, abrasions on the body and face, and the fracture of three ribs.
