Biography

Ann(e) Cooke was born on 21 August 1686 in Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, the daughter of Caleb and Jane (Unknown) Cooke.[1][2]

She married James Johnson on 06 February 1716/7 at Plymouth.[3] He was probably born in England about 1685.[2] His parents and origins are currently unknown.

She was named as Anne Johnson in her father's will, dated 10 February 1721.[4][5]

A series of deeds, dated 1724-1743, place Anne and her husband in Middletown, Connecticut with several hundred acres of land.[2]

Her husband James died in Middletown on 18 March 1743.[2] His will was dated 14 March 1743, proved 04 October 1743. He named his wife Anne; sons James, Caleb and Joseph Johnson; daughters Ann and Elizabeth Johnson; daughter-in-law Mercy Johnson, the widow of John Johnson. Wife Anne and son James were named executors.[6]

Guardianship records after James' decease dated 04 Oct 1743, state that Caleb was 19, Anne 17, and Eizabeth was 13 years. They chose their brother James as guardian.[6]

The widow Anne Johnson died sometime after 28 April 1752 when she and daughter Anne and son-in-law Elisha Cornwell sold part of a lot in the Three Mile Division that had previously been held by her husband.[7][8]

The children of James and Anne (Cooke) Johnson, first two probably born Plymouth, the rest probably in Lebanon or Middletown, CT. All named in their father's will:[6][2]
