My father, Glenn Cooke, son of Herman, liked to tell us that his father claimed he had never encountered a musical instrument he could not play. Herman attended the silent movies in the days when there was an organ or instrumental accompaniament and upon returning home he played the entire score from memory. He enroleld my My Aunt Gladys in a music academy in Lansing, Mi., from which she graduated. I never met Herman, but my Aunt Vera said he was simply a swell father, much loved. (George Cooke, grandson)

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Herman by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Herman:
Cooke-4744 and Cooke-3543 appear to represent the same person because: Cooke-4744 appears to be an anomalous entry for Herman Dwight Cooke with only a single source - perhaps a prior GEDCOM import issue related prior work by my uncle George Cooke.
Herman Cooke was my great-grandfather on my mother's (Sandra Cooke) side. Our family has been in communication with our uncle George Cooke who maintains this profile. However we are not sure if he remains active and are hoping to continue to work that he has done.
Also, it should be noted that much of George's excellent work represented the confirmation of oral and written history in the Cooke family that was originally done by my 2nd cousin Lois Fohl (Ordway), who was once a librarian in Lansing with access to the original microfilm docs for Michigan state records way back in the 1950's and 1960's
