John Cooley served in the Revolutionary War as 2d Corporal in Capt. William Cooley's company, Col. John Mosely's Hampshire County regiment in 1776 marching under command of Lt. Col. Timothy Robinson to reinforce the Northern army and as a Corporal in the same company and regiment in 1777 marching toward Bennington on an alarm and in Capt. Aaron Coe's company, same regiment marching by order of Gen. Gates to reinforce Northern army on an alarm. [1] [2]

John Cooley was born February 16, 1737 in Springfield, Hampden County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, son of Daniel Cooley and Frances McIntyre. [3]

John and Ann Hosford were married.

Ann was born on June 25, 1747 in Canaan, Litchfield, Connecticut Colony. She died in 1774 in Granville, Massachusetts while giving birth.
