Edith, is your note about the merge I proposed for Deborah Ostrander? The birthates differ by only one month (one could be birth and other baptism), and all the other data matches. As for the children, it's common to find that different profiles for a person have different children, because many of us create profiles for only a couple of the children in a family. When we merge profiles, we often are uniting families that were fragmented in Wikitree.

Edith, thanks for OK-ing all those Ronk merges recently.

I notice that some of the Ronk family are still "private" (invisible). At DeRanke-1, I see the following list of children: Christina Rank, [private daughter (unknown - unknown)], [private daughter (unknown - unknown)], [private daughter (unknown - unknown)], [private son (unknown - unknown)], Anna Sraei Ronk, Christina Ronk, Laurents Ronk, Anna Margretha Ronk, Cornelius D Ronk and Johannes Ronk

I suspect those private daughters and private sons might be mistakenly labeled as "still living" (not likely, since they were born in the 1700s!). Could you go into the profiles and make sure that the checkbox next to Death Date and Death Place is NOT marked "still living" or "intentionally blank because still living"? Thanks!

Most of them are fixed. Thanks!! The children of Ronk-414 and Ronk-417 are A-OK.

I guess you can't see which profiles are private, and I can't see the names or numbers for the ones that are private. Here's what I see: Ronk-400 still has 4 private children (the first 4 on the list). Ronk-403 has a private wife (I can see Elisabeth, married in 1761, but not the other wife) and a private daughter. The oldest daughter of Ronk-415 is private. The wife of Ronk-416 is private.

Hi, Edith. I notice that some of the profiles where you are listed as manager have family members who obviously have been dead for MANY years but have a privacy setting of "Private" (which means the rest of us can't see them). This probably means that the profiles have the "still living" box checked in the death field, and maybe PRIVATE is checked on the Privacy page. If you manage those profiles, I'm hoping you could "fix" the profiles for the "private" children of Ronk-400, Ronk-403, Ronk-415, Ronk-416, and Ronk-417; and also the mother, siblings, and children of Ronk-414. If you're uncomfortable making profiles "Open," for those born less than 200 years ago, you can use settings like "Public" or "Private with Public Biography." THANKS!

Hi Edith,

Just a quick note. Please don't use 0000-00-00 as a date to be able to create a profile. Also, please don't mark individuals who are clearly not still alive (ie born in 1760) as "still living". Would you please review our profile privacy settings and make sure that the profiles you manage are set to the appropriate privacy levels?

Thanks!

Hi Edith. I noticed some people born in the 1700s where the death date was marked as "still living." This messes with the privacy controls, so it's something to watch for. Thanks.
