Son of Merrill Cooper (August 3, 1796-March 20, 1867) and Orrin Babcock (1806-1894).
Worked as a Carpenter and farmer. Purchased land in December 13, 1871 in Charlotted, Ontario, Canada. Family Bible gives date of wedding to Mary Millar as July 3, 1862 in Canada. Moved to the U. S by C.P.R.R.. in 1891, and naturalized 1906. Seattle Times obituary named him as an early pioneer of Seattle.
