Biography

Lydia Cooper was the sister of John Cooper, who married Priscilla (Carpenter) Wright[1] [2] Their parents were Edmund Cowper/Cooper and his wife Jane (Staresmore). She was baptized at Frolesworth 30 Jan 1613.[3]

On December 26, 1635, she married Nathaniel Morton, son of George[4] [1], and author of New England's memorial [5] [6] [7] [2] [8]

Their children included:

  1. Remember, born about 1637; who married Abrahm Jackson on Nov. 18, 1657, and then married Preserved Hall[7] [2]
  2. Mercy, who married Joseph Dunham Nov. 18, 1657[7] [2]
  3. Hannah, who married Benjamin Bosworth November 27, 1666[7], and Isaac Cole in 1686[2]
  4. Lydia, who married George Elliston about 1670[7] [2]
  5. Eleazer, who died young, Jan. 16, 1649[7] [9] [2]
  6. Nathaniel, who died Feb. 17, 1666-7[7] [2]
  7. Elizabeth, born May 3, 1652[10] ; who married Nathaniel Bosworth on Dec. 7, 1670,[7] [2]
  8. Joanna, born Nov. 9-19, 1654[10], who married Joseph Prince on Dec. 7, 1670[7] [2]

Lydia (Cooper) Morton died on September 23, 1673[10] [7] [2]

The latest research published 2014 in "The Mayflower Descendant" shows that both Lydia and her brother John are children of Edmund and Jane (Staresmore) Cooper. Can someone look this over and change the parents?
