Brad, Unfortunately the older church books of England are not readily available. I was very fortunate in finding access to a FS film that contained Ipswich, but I can't find Colchester. However I did find this site, possibly of interest for researchers into the Bloss family: http://worldcat.org/identities/viaf-316582194/

Having written this, I must admit there's a very good chance the families Bloss and Blois are related. There are several branches to be found in Suffolk and adjoining counties. I expect that the not-noble branches may originate from children out of wedlock. (Edmund too!) With the help of the Family Search Tree, I have added one branch to my database, starting with one William Bloss + Susanna (first known child in 1741). Interestingly their grandchildren and their descendants are using the name Blois, except one side branch that migrated to NY, USA. I can send you a listing if you're interested.

Surname must be Cooper.

Edmund married Mary Cooper 11 oct 1620 in Colchester, St. Nicholas. see https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N26N-W5R also: Blois must be Blosse or Bloss No connection with the Blois family that married and baptised in Ipswich

Dick this is very possible and thanks for your research. I severed Edmund from asserted parents William Blois and Frances Tye. Our challenge now is to prove that the Edmund who married Mary Cooper in 1620 at Essex is the same one who immigrated to Massachusetts (always the hardest part). Now what's interesting is that this same couple (maybe) had a son Richard christened 29 Sep 1622 at Colchester (St. Boltoph, "England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975", database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NK62-S72 : 19 March 2020), Edmond Blose in entry for Richard Blose, 1622.) and Edmund the immigrant had a son Richard. Can you do some looking through Colchester parish records to see if they continued to appear there after 1634, or had other children born/buried to help determine how good a match they are for the immigrant couple? Thanks!
