Enlisted as Private in Compay C, 12th Battalion, Tennessee Cavalry, CSA, for 3 years on 1 Mar 1864 at Grainger, Tennessee. This regiment was also known as Day's Tennessee Cavalry. Captured by Union Soldiers and paroled to Claiborne County, Tennessee, on 28 Apr 1865 at Cumberland Gap, Tennessee.
He and his family came to Texas in 1868 in covered wagons with the George Corbin (brother) , Berry, and Sanders (Saunders) families. There were 17 wagons in the wagon train which was on the road for about a month.They arrived just west of Carrollton, Tarrant County,Texas, in the winter - possibly in Jan 1869. They eventually settled 1/2 mile north and 1/2 mile west of Coppell, Dallas County, Texas. He died on 28 Jan 1897 in Grapevine,Tarrant County, Texas and is buried in Grapevine Cemetery there.
