Notes

N2837According to Wiregrass to Appomattox, The Untold Story of the 50th Georgia Infantry Regiment, CSA written by James W. Parrish - "Manning Corbitt was wounded and captured at Fox's Gap on September 14, 1862. Corbitt died on Oct. 1, 1862 and is buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Frederick Maryland. His name was mispelled "Corbert" on the marker.
Rosehill Cemetery, Hagerstown, Maryland
According to family lore... Martin S had to leave Manning on the trail while the 50th Georgia Infantry was reforming their group after being slautered at the battle of South Mountain which was about 3 days before the Antietam/Sharpsburg battle. They were guarding Fox's Gap which was a hole in the mountain because General Jackson and his corp was taking Harper's Ferry (which was a storage area for guns and supplies)
