Death of Captain Cordell:
Captain Edward Cordell, US Coast Survey, died suddenly in the streets of San Francisco in an apoplectic fit.[2]
His will was administered by his brother-in-law, Adolph Biber.
Cordell Bank (Marin), the shoal west of Point Reyes, was explored in June, 1869, by Captain Edward Cordell and was subsequently named after him.[3] An organisation known as "Cordell Expeditions" has, (in more recent times), undertaken 10 years of exploration of the Cordell Bank, resulting in the U.S. Department of Commerce designating it as the Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary.[4]
