Biography

In Lancaster, John Michael PROPST married Maria Margaretha Corell on Dec. 3, 1738. They had four children while living in Lancaster -

1. John George,
2. Frederick George,
3. Johann Michael Jr ,
4. Margaretha Barbara. Maria may be the mother of our Frederick George. Our Frederick George PROPST was born about 1740 but we need to find his baptism record in PA to verify his birth mother.

John Michael PROPST's family lived in the Lancaster area until 1745 before moving on into Augusta County.

Whether Hans Michael and Barbara stayed in Lancaster or moved into Virginia with Johan Michael is not known. They travelled through MD then to VA. ------------ Maria Margaretha his 2nd wife, may have also died in childbirth, for shortly after the birth of their fourth child (his eighth)

in 1745, he married Catherine Elizabeth (last name unknown). He and Catherine had seven children - #Catharina Barbara,

1. Maria Elizabeth,
2. Frederick George,
3. George Peter,
4. Maria Eva,
5. Barbara,
6. Heinrich. It is possible that some or all of those seven children could have instead been the offspring of Maria Margaretha Corell, and the marriage to Catherine Elizabeth took place later. (Both wives have son Frederick George???)

Johann Michael married Maria Margaretha Corell in Lancaster County on Dec. 3, 1738, again by Rev. Stoever. They had four children while living in New Holland, Lancaster County - John George, Frederick George, Johann Michael Jr (II), and Margaretha Barbara.

In 1741, Michael had also bought some land on King Street in Lancaster. On July 1 1743, the Smoze land was resold by Michael and wife Margaretha to John Fierre for 82 pounds. Maria

Margaretha apparently died around 1745, for shortly after the birth of their fourth child, he married Catherine Elizabeth (last name unknown). They had six children -- Catharina Barbara, Maria Elizabeth, Frederick George, George Peter, Maria Eva, and Heinrich. It is possible that some or all of those six children could have been the offspring of Maria Margaretha Corell, and the marriage to Catherine Elizabeth took place later.
