They lived for a while in Pittsgrove, Salem Co., NJ, as did my DuBois Ancestors; all related, I believe. I have a photo I took at a cemetery in Pittsgrove which is a monument to Cornelius; not a gravestone. Noland 588.

The will footnotes may be hard to read. His children are listed with baptism dates: Gerrit 28 Jul 1684, Jan 29 Nov 1685, Adrian 27 Feb 1687, Barent 13 Oct 1689, Gilles 5 Nov 1691, Jacomyntje 8 Jun 1694, and Cornelis 30 Aug 1696. These dates can be found also in the following source: Hoes, Roswell Randall. 1891. Baptismal and marriage registers of the old Dutch church of Kingston, Ulster County, New York, 1660-1809. https://archive.org

The will says six children. Son Cornelis was apparently born after the will was signed.

Yes, it looks like that's supposed to be his granddaughter, daughter of Nieuwkerk-5.

Hi everyone, this week's error report for Gerritsz-32 has error 210 Father was dead before birth. His child Yonika was born 1728 but the father died 1696. Shouldn't Yonika be removed as the child of Cornelis Gerretse Van Nieuwkirk?
Date expressed as after 5 Oct 1684 now ;)

Since banns were posted 5 October 1684, it appears to me that the date of marriage should be expressed as "after 5 Oct 1684."

Echoing Carrie: I recently looked up a Kingston marriage record of a couple who had their child with them when they posted banns.

I'm the one that added the church records; it was 1684 https://archive.org/stream/baptismalmarriag00king#page/506/mode/2up It specifically says [Date of marriage not given]. You're welcome to add a note to the biography that the wedding was likely in October but the Dutch were a lot more flexible about premarital sex as long as a wedding eventually occurred so there's no reason to assume that it would have to be 9 months before the birth of the first child.

Hello NNS Project,

This profile states marriage was in 1683, again in 1684. Can anyone review the church record to verify it says 1684, because 1683 seems more likely. Perhaps we could be specific that marriage was Oct 1683, since the banns were posted on Oct 5, and Oct 28 was 9 months prior to birth of first child.

Thanks.

Hello NNS Project.

I am proposing addition of a link to Cornelis and Jannetse's youngest son, Cornelius Newkirk [Newkirk-58]. Can the project accommodate me on this?

Thanks,

Weldon Smith
