About Cornelius, Harry Jewell The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1931-1954) Wednesday 27 July 1938 APPROACHING MARRIAGES BAKER-CORNELIUS.-The marriage of Audrey, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Baker, of Bordertown. to Harry Jewell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Cornelius, of St. Morris, will take place at St. Barnabas Church, Bordertown on Saturday, the 30th of July. The Advertiser (Adelaide, SA : 1931-1954) Friday 5 August 1938 Cornelius - Baker In St. Barnabas' Church of England Bordertown on July 30. Audrey G.. elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F Baker, of Bordertown. and Harry J. youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Cornelius, of St. Morris, were married by the Rev. A. G. Hay. Mrs. J. Hinge played the "Wedding March." During the signing in the vestry Mrs. D Rowney sang a solo. The bride, who entered the church with her father, was frocked in off-white French chiffon velvet, made in Early Victorian style, with full skirt merging into a slight train. The bodice had a square neckline, tiny buttons at the back to the waist, and was belted and buckled at the back, with tight-fitting sleeves. The bridal veil of Brussels lace was 200 years old and was lent by Mrs. H. Showell of Medindle. It was worn cap fashion, and held in place with the orange blossom worn by her mother on her wedding day. The bridal Early Victorian posy in tulle was of cream roses, carnations, narcissus and maidenhair. Miss Barbara Baker (bride's sister) and Mrs Betty Davis, of Toorak Gardens, were brides maids, and were frocked alike in Early Victorian frocks of wood violet chiffon velvet. The skirts were full and merged into slight trains at back. Mr. Bill Cornelius (bridegroom's brother) was best man. and Mr. Bob Baker (bride's brother) was groomsman. The young couple left on the express for Melbourne, where the honeymoon is being spent. For traveling, the bride chose a coat and skirt of dull mustard Scottish tweed, brown hat. and accessories. She also wore the bridegroom's gift, a fox fur. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius will be at St Peter's Adelaide.
