"E. H. Cornett of this city died at his home on East Rush Avenue at nine o'clock last night after a long illness, death being due immediately to pneumonia which no doubt was induced by the continued ill health of the deceased.
Deceased was 68 years of age having been a native of Kentucky, but later moving to Oklahoma where he spent a number of years, and later still, coming to this county some five or six years ago and where he has since resided. Besides a widow, he leaves by a former marriage seven sons and three daughters. These are, Herman Cornett, Beggs, Oklahoma; V.B. Cornett, Henryetta, Oklahoma; Roy Cornett, Federal Court Clerk Tulsa, Oklahoma; Corbett Cornett, Pawhuska, Okla.; J. B. Cornett, Henryetta, Okla; Eddie Cornett, Tennessee; Mannon Cornett, Florida; Mrs. Dovie Owens, Pawhusky, Okla.; Mrs. Callie Gunthrau, Chicago; and Miss Worthy Cornett, Barnsdale, Okla.
Deceased was a member of the Baptist Church and usually was an attendant on its services when health permitted. He had led an active business life and was conversant with the various phases of commercial and social life, even to the point of being versatile; a physical handicap during the past several years preventing him from pursuing as he would wish to any particular line of business activity. Perhaps his greatest heritage to society is manifest in his posterity consisting of the seven sons and three daughters, all of whom are reflecting credit on the name of their sire in that they are all examples of splendid citizens in the various communities in which they reside.
Only two of the children of the deceased were present when the end came. These were Herman Cornett of Beggs, Okla., V. B. Cornett of Henryetta, Okla. But most of the other children arrived this afternoon to attend the funeral which it is expected will take place here as will the interment."[20][21]
