Research Notes

  • In 1850, it appears that Marth and her (apparently) twin sister Margaret have been left to raise their siblings on their own.[1] When did their parents die?

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Margaret by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Margaret:

Hi, Heather!

I've been working on the Corson Family this week, and in looking at the sources for this family, it appears that this profile was created in error.

If you look at the 1850 Census linked on the profiles of the other family members, I think that the age for Margaret is incorrect.

I think she is probably widowed, and the others listed in the household are her children instead of her siblings.I think the census taker wrote her age incorrectly. This is still a theory and needs confirmation, but I'm setting this profile as an Unmerged Match with Margaret McCarty's profile, and I've put a note in her bio about it, too.

If you have more information to help with this conundrum, let me know. :-)

Thanks!

Julie
