Edkin Corson was born in June 1831 in Lycoming, Pennsylvania, his father, Isaac Corson and his mother, Sarah Shipman. He married Angeline Taylor (1836–1913) on 5 Feb 1856 in Sullivan, Pennsylvania. He died on March 5, 1907, in Watertown, Michigan, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried in Wacousta Cemetery, Wacousta, Clinton County, Michigan.
