Biography
Matthias Corwin was born in 1761, a son of Jesse Corwin and Kaziah Case.
Per his grave memorial [1] Matthias Corwin married first, in 1782 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, Patience Hallock, with whom he may have had 9 children (surname Corwin presumably):
- Elizabeth Hallock (Corwin) VanPelt (1783-1814); married Alexander VanPelt
- Benjamin (1786 - 1829)
- Matthias
- Mary (1791 - 1860)
- Thomas Corwin (1794-1865)
- Jesse (1797 - 1867)

Per the same source he married second, in 1820, Elizabeth Fansler; she had children from an earlier marriage to John Corbly, or Corbley.
Matthias Corwin passed away in Lebanon, Ohio, 4 Sep 1829. His grave is in Pioneer Cemetery, West Main Street, Lebanon, Warren County, Ohio, Lot 177.
