The son of William S. Coss and Emma Kate Justice, Clarence was born on 29 Apr 1906 in Leitersburg, Washington County, Maryland. ^{[1] [2]}

He married Nellie Elizabeth Mellot in 1926. ^[3] Their children: ^[4]

2. Phyllis Marie (Coss) Guessford Wilber (1934-2015)

"CLARENCE SAMUEL COSS, 79, of 1046 S Potomac St, died Wednesday at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Leitersburg, he was the son of the late William S and Emma Kate Justice Coss. His wife, Nellie F Coss, died in 1979.

He owned and operated Dual Gardens, formerly on Dual Highway, and was a truck farmer.

He was a member of the Hagerstown Church of the Brethren and the men's bible class. He was a member of the First Hose Fire Co..

He is survived by two daughters, Betty F Zittle and Phyllis Marie Guessford, both of Hagerstown; sister, Mildred Bostetter, Hagerstown; three brothers, Charles Coss, St James; Jacob Coss and Herbert Coss, both of Hagerstown; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Services Saturday at 1 pm at Minnich Funeral Home, E Wilson Blvd, the Rev Joseph M Quesenberry officiating. Burial will be in Beaver Creek Cemetery." ^[8]
