Maria was born in 1870 and married Samuel Power at Wagga in 1896. Over the next 16 years they had nine children together, all born at Wagga:

FUNERAL
MRS. MARIA POWER
The funeral of the late Maria Power, widow of the late Samuel Robert Power, of Wagga and late of Forest Hill, whose death occurred at Lewisham Private Hospital on Thursday, took place yesterday afternoon. The cortege moved from St. John's Church of England, Wagga, after a service conducted by the Ven. Archdeacon West, who made feeling reference to the sterling qualities of a district pioneer, one so widely-known for her kind and charitable disposition. Mrs. Sutherland officiated at the organ during the singing of 'Lead Kindly light.' The casket was carried by Messrs. Lindsay, Harold and Jack Power (sons), Neville Nesbitt and A. Glenn (nephews), and Tom Silver, while the floral tray was in the care of Messrs. R. G. Nesbitt (brother-in-law), C. Boyton (nephew), A. Andrews (cousin) and R. Emblen. Interment took place in the Wagga cemetery, where the Ven. Archdeacon West officiated. Relatives present, in addition to the abovementioned, were Mrs. R. Fulljames, Mrs. J. L. Brown (daughters), Mesdames Lindsay and Vera Power (daughters in law), Kevin Power (grandson), Messrs. A. and H. Boyton. J.W. Glenn, A. and D. Graham. Mrs. W. Boyton (nephews and nieces), Mrs. M. Power (aunt), Mr. A. Angel (cousin), and Miss V. Power, Mrs. Lavers, Mrs. J. Malins and Mrs. J. Power. Mr. Clive Power (son), of Perth, was unable to be present. Among those present at the graveside were Messrs. B. F. Greenway (representing Messrs. W. G. Huthwaite and Co.), Mr C. Fife (representing Fife's Bakery), Mr. L. Shewn (representing Commercial Bank of Aust.), and many other friends from Forest Hill, Ladysmith. Currawarna. Lake Albert, Maletoo. Wagga and other surrounding districts. Among the floral tributes were wreaths from Fife's Bakery and Mr. and Mrs. G. Slocum (Exchange Hotel).
