Biography

Jean Frédéric Côté (also called Hilaire or Alary) was born on 27 Feb 1811 and baptized on 27 Feb 1811 in the parish of L'Isle-Verte (St-Jean-Baptiste), the son of Augustin Côté and Magdeleine Dufour.^[1]

Jean Frédéric married Angélique Vaillancourt, daughter of Joseph Vaillancourt and Scholastique Golthier Larouche, on 28 Oct 1833 in Rimouski (St-Germain).^[2] Their children were:

In the 1861 census "Hilaire" (age 49) lived in St. Leonard, New Brunswick.^[6] He lived with his wife Rose and children Marcel, Philomene, Augustin, Cesare, William, and Paul.

In the 1871 census "Larance" (age 57) lived in St. Leonard, Victoria, New Brunswick.^[7] He lived with his wife Rose and children Marcel, Augustas, William, and Paul.

He died on 16 Oct 1884 in Sainte-Basile, Madawaska at the age of 73.^[8]
