When Joseph Couch was born in 1805, in New River, Onslow, North Carolina, his father Martin Couch was 20, and his mother Sara Hall was 20. They had at least 7 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Perry County, Kentucky. He died in April 1898 in Big Creek, Martin, Kentucky at the age of 93 and was buried in Perry County, Kentucky.
