Biography
Richard Coulter was born about 1800 according to the censuses. His father may have been a Reuben Coulter for there was a widowed Richard Coulter with father Reuben who married a widowed Caroline Burgess in 1852.[1]
He married Sarah Acot 17 June 1820 in East Malling, Kent, England.[2]
In 1841 he was in Nettlestead, Kent, England with Sarah (probably his wife) and William, Richard, James, Michel, Austen, Amelia and Rhoda Coulter.[3]
In 1851 he is in Nettlestead with his wife Sarah (Acot) Coulter and children Michael Coulter, Austin Coulter, Amelia Coulter, Roda Coulter, Albert Coulter, Mary Ann Coulter.[4]
Richard, son of Reuben Coulter, widower,married Caroline Burgess, widow, on 9 June 1852 in Barming, Kent, England.[5]
In 1861 there are in Peckham Road, Nettlestead, Maidstone a Richard Coulter (born 1799 in Maidstone, Kent) and wife Caroline[6]
Neither he nor his family is mentioned in what is freely available in FamilySearch of the 1871 census.
He died in 1874 in Maidstone, Kent aged 74.[7]

- Note: There is a Richard chr 1814 in HOO St Mary, Kent. He must have married a Sarah. For this Richard and Sarah there are Jane chr 1834, Esther Ann chr 1832; also John chr 1824, Sarah Ann chr 1827, Caroline chr 1829, at HOO St Mary, Kent .
- Our Richard and Sarah must be the parents of Frances Rebecca chr 1821, Jane chr 1822, Sarah chr 1824 at NETTLESTEAD, Kent. There is also Austen chr 1834, William chr 1826 , Richard chr 1829, James chr 1831, Michael chr 1833 at WATERINGBURY, Kent. This is perhaps yet another family.
