It appears this Anne Courtney-40 Holcombe is connected to the wrong father Peter Courtenay. The Vivian version of the 1620 Visitation of Cornwall indeed connects her to Gilbert Holcombe and to Peter Courtenay of Lanrake. However, this Vivian visitation references the "original Harleian 1620 visitation. In that Harleian visitation there are 3 pedigree images of which I posted one for reference, i.e. Courtenay of Lanrake. (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Courtenay-492) which is page 51 of Harleian https://archive.org/details/visitationofcoun00sain/page/50/mode/2up/search/Courtenay. Please note that Peter Courtenay-492 and Katherine Reskimer-2 do not have a daughter named Anne or any daughters at all. Anne Courtenay-40 is not recorded despite the fact that Anne Courtenay-40 is listed as born 1573, which is within the lifetime of the Edward Courtenay who signed this pedigree in 1620. It is unlikely this Edward and his brother Peter would have failed to list their close relative Anne Courtenay who was living at the time they made this pedigree and married to a Gilbert Holcombe. It appears the Vivian version of the vistitation is in error on this Anne as well as her sisters. Also, in other references (https://ia800707.us.archive.org/18/items/holcombegenealog00seav/holcombegenealog00seav.pdf on page 4) the Anne Courtenay who married Gilbert Holcombe-17 is said to be from Brottonin, Cornwall as is her father Peter Courtenay.

Although Vivian's version of the Visitations can contain errors, I'm not sure that we can assume that just because only 5 sons are mentioned in the 1620 Visitation that Vivian has invented the 3 daughters he mentions? Visitations in any case are unreliable sources (someone posted a link to this piece in G2G recently https://secretlibraryleeds.net/2020/04/03/visitations-and-pedigrees/ ) and better where possible to confirm with other sources.

The Holcombe genealogy appears to cite no sources at all, and as such can hardly be considered reliable, and I'm not sure where Brottonin in Cornwall is meant to be, as there is definitely no parish by that name. Perhaps it's a manor?

According to Vivian's version of the Visitation, the Peter Courtenay of Landrake wrote a will on 16 Dec 1605 which was proved in Archdeacon's Court of Cornwall on 28 May 1606. If we could find that, it might give a clearer indication of whether Anne was his daughter?

John, thanks for your patience while I checked Ann's parentage. The link is OK. I found a reference that links Ann Courtenay-40 Holcombe to her father Peter Courtenay-492 and brother Peter Courtenay-44 and Gilbert Holcombe-17. It also ties to the pedigree image on Courtenay-492 which does not include Ann for some reason, but that image notes that Peter Courtenay-44 is the 4th son of Peter Courtenay-492 which ties directly to the information in the following reference. Here Ann wife of deceased Gilbert Holcombe is the sister of Peter Courtenay who is the 4th son of Peter Courtney of Lanrake/Ladock/Landrock. https://ia902604.us.archive.org/14/items/devonshirewills00wortgoog/devonshirewills00wortgoog.pdf or https://archive.org/details/devonshirewills00wortgoog/page/n127 /mode/2up Brottonin or Vrontonnin is probably Bonython manor in Cornwall. Richard Bonython was executor of Gilbert Holcombe's will. https://goo.gl/maps/2hgR865mrCQZ7hyq7

Courtenay-689 and Courtenay-40 appear to represent the same person because: Same birthplace, approx bd, husband, and child. Son Thomas also needs to be merged.
