Biography

The 1860 Andrew County, Missouri federal census for Rochester township indicates Thomas is a farmer with no real estate and personal property valued at $300. His wife Amanda is also listed. Interestingly, the household immediately prior to Thomas is also a Courtney family headed by Harriet Courtney, born about 1794 in Maryland. (See further discussion in Father Courtney's notes.

The 1870 Andrew County, Missouri federal census for Rochester township, Whiteville Post Office, indicated Thomas Courtney had $4000 in real estate and $2350 in personal property.
