Biography
Emma Coventry was born in April 1851 to parents Charles 'George' Coventry and Charlotte Coventry (nee Hunt).
The 1851 English census shows Emma listed as an infant of 1 month old living at Kingsclere, Hampshire. Along with parents George and Charlotte, Emma is recorded as living with older siblings Jane (aged 6) and John (aged 3).
The 1861 census finds the family living at Eccinswell, with younger siblings Sarah, Martha and Alice.
On 25 July 1869, Emma was married to Samuel James Smith at Pangbourne Chapel in Bradfield, Berkshire. She was 18 years old.
The married couple moved to Overton, Hampshire and they are recorded as living there is both the 1871 and 1881 English census'. The 1871 census shows the couple living with their eldest daughter, Amy, who was aged 1 year at the time.
In 1891, Samuel and Emma were living at Hannington in Hampshire and were still there at the 1901 census.
The 1911 census shows the couple living in a four room building at Lonesome Farm, Newnham Murren, Wallingford, along with a grandson, Percy Edward Smith.
Emma is believed to have died abt 1926.
