I never got to met her only talk with her on the phone when I was in my teens. I remember my Grandmother MaryElla telling me how "Mother" needed a new pair of shoes and she wanted to get her good walking shoes, but Elsie wanted pretty shoes. My Grandma thought this was funny because she and I have always had a love of shoes and that maybe it was genetic. Her love of shoes aside she was a very giving women and a women of strong faith. She was a missionary on the reservation in Holbrook NM. I know she had adopted three babies from the reservation. I have met Tammy many times and she had a big heart. I was told that at her funeral she was told how giving she was and how she looked out for those in need and that she was loved for that When she passed she was given a funeral off the reservation but they dressed her in a Navao velvet blouse. When on road trips my children and I stop and dust off her grave and visit with her. The first we stopped my girls were young and sang for her. Then crossed the street to the Dairy Queen and had Ice cream. It's right off the I-40 .
