Biography

Sarah was born in 1823. Sarah Cowlishaw ... She passed away in 1896. excerpt of an article by Jake Good, Focus on Port Sandfield-- ... in 1881 Enoch and Sarah Cox became tired of eking out a meager living as farmers and decided to cash in the pasing ships and their passengers. They built a boarding house that could accommodate 30 people, and they soon realized that a larger resort was needed. By 1888, Prospect House could accomodate 300 guests, offering tennis, ballroom dancing and sandy beaches for that perfect getaway. Sadly the structure burned doen in 1916 and was not rebuilt, but it paved the way in making the village a key destination. ....Muskoka Sideroads, Spring 2007.
