Biography

Rebecca Cowperthwaite [1] was born on 22 August 1778 to Hugh Cowperthwaite (1744-abt.1808) and Rebecca (Roberts) Cowperthwaite (1750-aft.1786)[2]

Rebecca was born in Chester Township, Burlington County, New Jersey.[citation needed]

Rebecca married John Evans (1774-1841) on 12 Feb 1799 at Upper Evesham Monthly Meeting (Medford), Burlington, New Jersey, USA.[3] Rebecca and John had the following children:

  1. Ezra Evans, b. 26 Aug 1800, 1879
  2. Lydia Evans, b. 19 Feb 1804 d 13 Nov1827; m David Rogers
  3. William Evans, b. 27 Jan 1806 ; m Sussannah Evans
  4. David Evans, b. 7 Sep 1810, d. 1875; m Sarah Roberts
  5. Mary Cowperthwaite Evans, b. 21 Sep 1808, Evesham, Nj , d. 11 Feb 1861, Evesham, Nj
  6. Deborah C. Evans, b. 25 May 1816, d. 23 Jun 1890, Marlton, Burlington Co, NJ; m William C. Evans[2]

In 1850, Rebecca, age 72, is living in Evesham, Burlington, New Jersey, United States with her son Ezra Evans.[4]

In 1860, Rebecca, age 82, was living with her son Ezra, age 60, in Mount Holly (P.O) Evesham Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. Also living with her is her daughter Mary, age 52 and Sarah Mortland, age 17.[5]

Rebecca passed away on 15 Apr 1861 at Cropwell (Marlton), Burlington County, New Jersey.[6]
