Thirza moved back to England with her husband during 1915, and was associated with the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. An account by the wife of the Astronomer Royal at the time (Dyson) records

"Thirza Jonckheere soon followed her husband to Greenwich, where she found rooms for the family. Though a talented artist, she worked gallantly in a munitions factory, partly through patriotism, partly to help maintain her children. She was a gay and lively creature, and a great favourite with the Dysons. "

Thirza was artistic, witty and creative. "There is an amusing record of the Dysons about this time in an alphabet written by Thirza Jonckheere. In rather over a hundred lines of witty doggerel she crystallised the family, their home life .." (pp 178, 182, 187, 189, 197 of this ref: [1])
