His Father, John Cox, moved to Shelburne, Nova Scotia or possibly Carlton, New Brunswick after the Revolutionary war, John was born in 1756, he lived in Katsbaan Ulster Co, NY from 1776 to 1790, then moved to Rhinebeck. He married Maritje Hudler in 1776 and they had five children. "The older children" were baptized in Katsbaan at the Reformed Dutch Church.[1]
