Biography

For a while we followed a false lead, as Arthur Snrs death cert had his father as "George". It was English researcher, Val Kane, who found that he was really Thompson (named for his grandmother's maiden name), as the family is in all the major censuses of the 19th and early 20th centuries. From Val Kane (Monday 30 May 2005) Hello Sue, You haven't made it easy for me!!! I found the marriage of Arthur and Lily Walker in 1901 , finally, I looked at Lincolnshire....not Yorkshire. Thats why I couldn't find it before. Is this correct... Glanford Brigg, June quarter 1901. Lincolnshire???? I really hope so. Anyway, using the family on the 1901 census I have gone back to 1861. Thompson Cox married Mary Ann F. Jacklin June quarter 1867 also in Glanford Brigg, Lincolnshire. Which as I said before , is a big coincidence. they have Harry, John W., Fred, Hannah M. Edith E. Arthur , Sarah, Alice, Walter, Ernest, Charles H. Could have been more????? I'll give you their approx birth dates if you want them, later. Thompson Cox was born in Aby, Lincolnshire and his wifwe was born in South Ferriby, Lincolnshire. I still can't understand the George Cox connection as there don't appear to be any Georges in the family. I found Thompson Cox living with his family aged 14 yrs. in 1861. His father was William Cox, born 1817 and his mother was called Mary born 1821. Can't be sure about their marriage as there are a couple or so around 1847, which is about when Thompson was born , that’s if he was the eldest Which he may not be as William was 44 and Mary was 40, on the 1861 census when Thompson was 14.
