Biography

Asa was born around 1810 to Aaron Cox and Alice Scarborough in Mississippi. He moved to Arkansas, where he was living next to his dad (Aaron) and brother (Josiah) for the 1840 US Census. He passed away there in 1846 at 36 years old.

Asa Cox, dec’d
This day the clerk presented the bond of Mrs. Nancy Cox, adm’r of the estate of Asa Cox dec’d, in the … sum of six hundred dollars, good and lawful money conditioned according to law, with James Andrews and Henry Fagle as her securities, upon which letters of administration were granted by the clerk in vacation bearing date the 23d day of October A.D. 1846, upon due examination of which the same is approved by the court and ordered to be noted on the records.

This day the clerk presented the inventory of the estate of Asa Cox as made out by the admin’rs and filed with him. December the 19th 1846, which is examined by the court and ordered to be noted on the records. See Inventory Book page.
