John J. Cox, son of Nimrod Cox and Kisiah Carroll, was born about 1847 in Hall County, Georgia, USA.^[1] He appeared on the census of 2 Dec. 1850 in the home of his parents at Gordon County, Georgia.^[2] He was a farm laborer when he appeared on the census of 11 July 1860 in the home of his parents at Freemans, Gordon County, Georgia.^[3]
