Sir Reginald Blomfield in his rather concise and interesting missive Á Blomfield Family describes Dorothy as "a shrewd and rather hard old lady and goes onto say she must have been a very attractive girl when she was painted by harlow in The Proposal. hers is the head on the left, the other two are portraits of her frienhds, Lady Dymoke and Mrs Blunt"
Marriage One
Dorothy Cox married Barrister Thomas Kent on 20 Aug 1816 in Hildersham, Cambridge.[2]They had one son; Thomas Fassett Kent (1817-1871)[3]
Dorothy's husband Thomas Kent passed away in 1818.
Marriage Two
The widow Kent then married the Reverend Rector of Chesterford and later Bishop of London, [Charles James] Blomfield on 17 December 1819. A marriage notice was published in the Norfolk Chronicle on 24 Dec 1819.[4] Charles was also a widower, and had one surviving daughter from his first marriage.
Dorothy's spouse became Archdeacon of Colchester in 1822, and two years later was raised to the bishopric as Bishop of Chester. In 1828 he was appointed a Privy Counsellor and translated becoming Bishop of London on 23 Aug 1828. The family then resided at Fulham Palace, the principal residence of the Bishop of London. His health began to fail, and he resigned his bishopric in 1856 - although he retained Fulham Palace as his residence until his death on 5 Aug 1857.
