Thomas Cox died about 1821 Grove Hill, Clarke County, Alabama, before his children moved to Louisiana. Eventually, ten of Thomas and Mary Cox 12 children moved west to Louisiana, settling in DeSoto, Union, Winn, and Beauregard Parishes. The Louisiana settlers included all three sons, Lewis, Richmond, and Thomas, Jr.
