But in the 1900 census, living with them is the widowed Betty Piphs, b Dec 1837 Kentucky, identified as mother-in-law of Alabama's husband, therefore mother of Alabama.[3]
In 1870, Alabama, age 20, with a one-year-old daughter Martha, is enumerated as a servant in the household of John Bundy and his wife Lucinda. In the same household is John and Lucinda's son, John, 25.[4]
John Bundy (the son) and Alabama married the following year.
