Mary Cox was born in about 1740, in Goochland County, Virginia. She was the daughter of Stephen Cox and Judith Woodson.[1][2]
She is listed as one of 4 youngest sisters in her brother Steven's will.
Mary Cox married Thomas Walling.[3][4] The exact circumstances of their marriage are uncertain, but it likely occurred in Virginia after June 1758 (when she is named by her maiden name in her brother Stephen's will) and before August 1766 when her brother William and Thomas Walling appear together in Halifax County.[2]
After her husband Thomas died, she is said to have come with her daughter Judith to Wayne County, Kentucky, where she died on August 16, 1816.[1][5]
