Biography

Ebenez was born in 1696. He is the son of John Cox and Susanna Pope. Ebenezer married Thankful Davenport on Nov 25 1719 in Dorchester. She was admitted to full communion in the First Church, Dorchester, Jan. 8 1727 and died Dec 8 1751. Children: Mary (Nov 2 1722), Ebenezer (March 13 1726), Christian (March 1 1729), Christian (March 1 1730), Dorcas (Aug 26 1733), John (July 29 1737), Benjamin (Nov 3 1740).

Oct. 7th 1752: Ebenezer Cox was drowned in the Dorchester harbor by the upsetting of a boat - "He fell, or pitched, out of a canoe near ye wharf in Dorchester and was drowned." He worked as a cooper (barrel maker).
