PRAIRIETOWN - Harold Crabtree, 69, died at 9:23 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Madison County, son of the late Burwell and Louise (Mueller) Crabtree, he was a supervisor for Olin
Corp. until his retirement in 1976.
He married the former Verna Gusewelle on May 7,1939, in Prairietown.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters, Marie Ruyle, Norma Crabtree and Marjie Schmidt, all of Prairietown; two grandchildren: and a brother, Clifford of Elizabethtown.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Prairietown with the Rev. John Karlen officiating.
Burial will be in Prairietown Cemetery and memorials may be made to St. Peter's multi-purpose building fund.[8]

Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Prairietown Lutheran Church, Miss Verna Gusewelle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs W. W. Gusewelle, became the bride of Harold Crabtree, son of Mr. and Mrs Burwell Crabtree. Rev. N. C. Bekemeyer performed the double ring ceremony in the presence of immediate relatives and friends.
The couple was attended by Miss Hilda Gusewelle, cousin of the bride, as bridesmaid and Clifford Crabtree, brother of the groom, as groomsman.
The bridal party entered the church as Prof. J. G. Gehner played Lohengrin's Wedding March. The bride was attired in a floorlength gown of white lace over matching taffeta. She wore a full-length veil held in place with orange blossoms and carried a bndal bouquet of white roses.
Miss Gusewelle wore a floor-length gown of pink taffeta with a matching head band of flowers. She carried an arm bouquet of pink roses.
Following the ceremony a wedding supper was served at the home of the brides parents to about seventy relatives
and friends. A large wedding cake with a miniature bride and bndegroom formed the centerpiece of the table. The dining room was decorated in a pink and white color scheme and spring flowers.
The young couple will make their future home with the bride's parents near Prairietown. Mr Crabtree is employed at the Western Cartridge Co. in Alton.[12]
