There are two men named Isaiah Washington Craighead with similar biographies--This profile is for Isaiah Washington Craighead (b. Feb 28, 1813 in Franklin Co, Virginia (some sources say Pittsylvania, Virginia) and who d. Mar 31, 1873 in Callaway Co, Missouri - he was married to Susan Bethena Kemp). He is the son of Isaiah Walter Craighead. I do believe the two men are related in some way (most likely cousins). Though they are definitely two different individuals , their biographies are similar enough and can easily be confused). The other Isaiah Washington Craighead was born on 12 Jul 1812 in Smith County, Tennessee. He married Massey “Minnie” Sandlin on 16 Sep 1835 in Dubuque, Iowa. He died January 30, 1879 in Clay County, Missouri. He is the son of Shelton Craighead of Tennessee.......(*Addendum: The two Isaiah Washington Craigheads are second cousins to each other, both are descendants of Robert Craighead Sr through his sons John and Peter)....
Isaiah was born in 1813 in Franklin County, Virginia (other sources say Pittsylvania, Virginia) to parents Isaiah Walter Craighead and Feminine (Robinson) Craighead. By 1830, He relocated from Virginia to Callaway County, Missouri with his parents and siblings.
Marriage: He married Susan Bethena Kemp, daughter of Walter Kemp, in 1840 in Hams Prairie, Missouri and they had ten children together (All of their children were born in Missouri):
The Craighead Family were early pioneers and settlers in Callaway County, Missouri in the early 1800's.
Isaiah passed away in March 1873 in Callaway County, Missouri and is buried at the Craghead Cemetery in Toledo, Callaway County, Missouri. [1]
