Obituary

R. W. Crain, 73, retired farmer of the Sikes community, died at his home near Sikes Wednesday, February 9, 1949, at 10 p.m. He had been in ill health for a number of years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Sikes Baptist Church with interment in the Sikes Cemetery.

Mr. Crain, one of Winn's most progressive farmers, was a native of the Sikes community. He was married to Miss Cuma Emmons, also of Sikes, and they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary several years ago. He was a member of the Sikes Baptist Church.

Besides his wife he leaves four sons, Crosby Crain of Haynesville; Ross, M. J., and Verlon, of Shreveport; six daughters, Mrs. Ralph J. Talbot and Mrs. Gladys Monroe of Monroe, La.; Mrs. Billie Byrd, Lake Charles; Mrs. Roy Gaar, Gaars Mill; Mrs. Charles Puckett, Pineville; and Mrs. Nita Kidd, Minden; and a number of grandchildren, two of whom, Miss Cassyle Crain of Winnfield, and Cedric Crain of New York City, Mr. and Mrs. Crain reared.

Mr. Crain also leaves one brother, Andrew Crain of Sikes; and two sisters, Mrs. Alfred Emmons of Sikes and Mrs. Henry Womack of Pioneer.
