Birth
Rev. Joseph Crandall was born about 1661 at Westerly, Kings, Rhode Island.[2][3]

He married Deborah Burdick about 1681 at Westerly, Washington, Rhode Island. He died 12 Sep. 1737 at Newport, Newport, Rhode Island.[3][2][4]
He is listed as a free inhabitant of Westerly 3 Mar 1679/80.[5]
Ministry
Joseph Crandall was chosen Westerly Town Councilman on 20 April 1704 but refused to serve. He was the third pastor of the Seventh Day Baptist Church in Newport, Rhode Island, ordained 8 May 1715.[3][6]
He had been a good church worker for years. He was church treasurer for many years and even after the Westerly Church was set aside. He was a deacon and performed baptisms before the Westerly church separated but was not a pastor. Even though separated from the Newport Church he was used frequently and the relationship was friendly. When the Newport pastor, Eld. Gibson, died he was made pastor of that church The following is a quote " Mr. Crandall was an unpretending but industrious man. He had not the learning of his venerable predecessor, but a sound and faithful preacher of the gospil, strict in his discipline yet courteous to all. Having a large and expensive family, he was poor. Yet the liberality of the members of the congregation was sufficiently manifest for his comfort"[7]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
Crandall-1548 and Crandall-130 appear to represent the same person because: Crandall-130 is correct match for my ancestor. I somehow screwed up and erroneously added Crandall 1548.
Crandall-1366 and Crandall-130 are not ready to be merged because: no parents or siblings just date and place suggest matching this til further study done
Thank you.
