Mary 'Ruth" Crandall was born on September 12, 1904,^[1]in Michigan. She was the daughter of Wilmer Clyde Crandall and Effie Wilson. At age 5, she was in her parent's home in Niles Ward 3, Berrien, County, Michigan.^[2]

She married Robert F Ames (1902-) on July 12, 1924, in Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.^[3] They had 2 children.

She died on April 25, 1990, in East Grand Rapids, Kent County, Michigan.^[4]
